Half Marathon

So I have finally done it. Stan & I are going to run a half marathon in September. Now you may be thinking we are crazy, but what better way to get back in shape. This way, I have the motivation to run because I have a goal to reach. Yes, I know when you workout you should always have a goal. But it is just so hard to be motivated sometimes. Both of us have been running for almost 2 months just to get ourselves ready for the actually training. And that starts today. So I will try my hardest to keep you updated on my/our progress as the weeks do on. 11 weeks till race day, September 13.

Week 1:
Beginning of training-ran 3 miles in about 34 minutes=11.10 a mile. Not the best time, but I am just starting.

Pillowcase Dress Givaway

So my friend Rachel is having another giveaway. And again, this one is to die for. She has found a company Hot Tot Boutique that makes Pillowcase Dresses. I know, I don't have any kids, but I have plenty of nieces that would look so cute in one of these. To see some of the design you can go the website here.

Okay Rachel, I would love to win one of your giveaways one day.

Celebrity Death

If you have not heard yet, Farrah Fawcett passed away this morning at the age 62 from cancer. Of course you can probably find the story anywhere, here is a link to the People article. She has been battling cancer since 2006 and has endored so much in that time. I don't know what it is about her death that touches my heart, but this one is tough. I guess it is the way that she opened up her life & illness to the world in a very personal way in "Farrah's Story". If you have not watched, I recomend you try. It is tough to watch, but it is her/or friends with a personal video camera documenting her cancer journey. It just makes you realize how human she really is, because I think people tend to forget that celebrities are human jsut like us.

Anyway, rest in peace Farrah 1947-2009. You are in a better place where there is no pain.

Justice??

Okay, I know this blog is going to be completly off base compaired to what I have written, but had to say something. Not sure if anyone follows sports, but back in March, Donte Stallworth of the Cleveland Browns, was involved in a traffic accident. He was driving drunk and hit a construction worker, who later died at the hospital. He has been convicted and sentenced to 30 days in jail, 2 years house arrest, 8 years probation in which he has to submit to randon drug testing and donate $2,500 to Mothers against Drunk Driving. On top of this, his license has been revoked for life.

Now don't get me wrong, I think that what he did was horrible and he deserves to be punished. But this seems to be a little over the top. Stallworth cooperated with police and did not have a record of traffic violations or criminal convictions. He stayed at the scene when the police came and said that he was the one that hit the man. Now yes, he will still be able to play football (if any team still wants him).

We have people out there every day driving around that have multiple DUI and still have their license. This guy has one, and yes I know he killed someone, but come on. Now this is just my opinion and you can agree, disagree, or hate me forever. Whatever. For the complete story from CNN, you can go here.

Contract

So after going back and forth between the agents, we finally have a contract on the house. Now don't get me wrong, I am excited. But a little hesitant. We had a contract before and the guy pulled out 5 days after the inspection. Well the inspection was yesterday and we have not heard anything yet. We talked to our agent and we can take it as either good or bad. Good that we have not heard anything becasue there probably is not anything majorly wrong or they would have told us already. But bad because of what happened last time. I am keeping my hopes up since these people seemed much more interested in the house than they last guy. So I think if we can get throught the rest of the week and still have a contract, then I will feel so much better.

So as it stands right now, the closing is June 30th and then we will be moving in with my parents for a couple of months. We have to do this in order to have a down payment for our next house. Since the money that we have saved so far, will go towards closing on this house. Not going to make any money out of this house, but we won't have to drive so far to go to work.
