Monday (Tuesday) Check In

I did not do my weekly check in last week because I forgot and actually could not remember what workouts I did the previous week. I have not been able to work out as much as I would like as I started to get back pain again. So I reached out to some of my girlfriends and went to see a chiroprator. They took x-rays of my spine and lets just say it was not pretty. No wonder I have back pain. So I have started some exercises for my back as well as weekly adjustments. I am feeling better but still not working out as much as I would like. Still trying to find that balance of family/house stuff/me time.

I ran 3 miles last night and it felt pretty good (the 65 degree weather might have helped too). I have started to eat better at work and not snack as much. In 2 weeks I have lost about 2lbs. It is not great but at least a start. So till next week.

At it again

I know I have been away from the blog world for some time but I am going to take a shot at it again. I started working out again, so I figure I can keep a log of what I am doing & my results. And I will TRY to post some pictures of the little ones or funny stories from them. So lets start with the workout. Monday check in... It has been really hard for me to start working out again after this pregnancy. I just always seem to make an excuse. I ran a 5K on Thanksgiving and have not done anything since then. I always make this great plan of running so many days per week & then doing some other type of workout as well. So time to change it up again. I got Zumba for the Wii for Christmas & am signing up to do the Go St Louis Marathon Relay in April. I started out slow with Zumba as I have no idea of the moves. So Lucas & I did a few songs Tuesday. He seemed to have fun & I started to get a little sweat going on. I can only imagine what it will be like when I do a full class. Then I ran about 1.8 miles on Thursday night. It felt so good to get out there and run again. I also got my butt out there last night in the cold and ran thanks to a good friend and her text. I plan to run 2-3 times this week as well as some more Zumba. So until next Monday's check in.

2012

I know I have not posted in a long time and I am not going to make excuses. Because that is just a waste of time. But here is to a new year.

So I have never been one to make new years resolutions and if I did, I never stuck to it. But I am going to try this year. I have a good group of friends that will keep me on track and hopefully get me to stick to it a little better.

So in 2012 I am going to try and get my life/house more organized. I always say I need to clean out the closet or organize the basement, but just never get to it. So I am going to take a page from a friend's book (or her binder) and try something new this year. She uses a Goals & Project Binder. In it includes meal plans, goals for the week (personal & family), and projects for the year. Of course this is not something that I will put together in one week for the whole year and then try to stick to it. I plan on taking it 1 week at a time.

So hoping this works for me and can de-clutter my life/house.

Happy New Year!!!

P90X/running

Let me first say that I am upset with myself. I am not going to finish the P90X (at least not this time). My back started hurting, so I took a couple of days off which turned into 10 days. Now I am still going to be doing some of the workouts, but have decided to start running as well. I really miss the running (I thought I would never say that). I decided to run a 5K with 6 of my friends the end of July. So since I have not run since the half in April, I figured I better get back to hitting the pavement. So this is my workout for the next 6 weeks. Running Sunday, Tuesday & Thursday. Monday will do P90X core & Friday will do P90X either Cardio or Kenpo. And then I will also do the ab ripper X on Tuesday & Thursday. I think this will still get me working out and ready for the race in July.

P90X-phase 1

So I ran my first half after having the baby but was not at the weight I wanted to be at. So I decided to start P90X. This is a butt kicking workout. It works on the philosophy of muscle confusion. What is muscle confusion you ask? P90X uses targeted training phases so your body keeps adapting and growing. You'll never "plateau"—which means your body will never get used to the routines, making improvements slow down or even stop. That came from their website, but it just means that you work out different parts of the body each day so your muscles don't get used to it. You have 3 different phases of 3 weeks each and a recovery week. But in all reality, there it is not the recovery that you might think. You are still working out 6 days, but just not as intense.

So my results so far. I won't tell my weight, but I have lost 2 lbs & 1 inch off my waist. I am not upset that I did not lose much weight, because that is apparently how it seems to work. The weight will come off later. If I get brave enough at the end, I will post my before & after pictures.

So onto phase 2

6 month update

This post is a little late and I apologize for that, but I just have so much fun playing with Lucas. Lucas had his 6 month update the beginning of March and he just continues to be a growing boy. He was 25.6 lbs and almost 29 inches long. That would be in the 97% aka big boy. He is rolling all over the place, but not quite crawling yet. Loves to be in his walker or bouncer. I think that when ever he does crawl it will not be for long and will be walking very soon after.

We took Lucas to the playground for the 1st time the other day and he just loved the swing. Huge smiles and laughing the whole time. And he got to watch all the other kids as well.

4 Month Update

I have been meaning to write this post for a couple of days, but just want to spend time with the little guy. My baby turned 4 months hold last week. I can't believe how fast it has already gone by. I can't find the sheet that has all the specifics on it (probably under all the other crap on my desk at work) but Lucas is growing like a weed. He is 20.5 pounds, 27 inches and in at least the 95% for his weight, height and head. He is talking up a storm which is so much fun, drooling all over the place (I think we are starting to get a tooth, slowly) and wiggling all over the place. He rolled over for the first time from his tummy to back on Dec 16th and then from his back to his tummy last night. He is just so much fun and I love ever minute I get to spend with him. Even if he is screaming his head off.

Running

So I have one week until my first race since I got pregnant. I am super excited, but a little nervous. I have been running 3 days a week relgiously since I was released to workout. And looking back at that first week when I was 'running' a mile, I never would have thought I would be where I am now. I have made it a point to do my last 5 runs before the race outside. I ran my 3 miles last night and actually ran almost all of it, but maybe 10-20 seconds. I am still not loving my time. But my pace is better then it was when I ran the half last year. I have 2 more runs before race day.

Workout Update

I am now in week 4 of working out and feeling pretty good. I will give an update on the complete week when it is over, but wanted to fill you in a bit. As you may know, I signed up for my 1st race since getting pregnant. I will be running a the Turkey Trout 5K on Thanksgiving morning. That would be 2 weeks from today. I ran 3 miles on Tuesday and it was not pretty. I was frustrated and it was a struggle to finish. I am still doing the 30 day shred video as well (when the little guy lets me). I moved up to level 2 last night on the shred and let me tell you...OMG. It was hard, but felt great. I wish that I would have started it last week.

On a somewhat different not. Some memebers of my family have been doing a biggest losser challenge. When I was able to workout, I decided to join in on the challenge. I won't tell you my weight, but I will tell you that I have lost 2lbs since I started 3 weeks ago. So good to see the hardword paying off on the scale as well as how better I feel. So untill next week.

Workout-week 3

I have completed my 3rd week of working out and my 1st week back to work. That has been the challenge, because I don't get home until almost 6 and all I want to do is spend time with Lucas. Lucky for me, my workouts each day only take about 30 minutes. I started running 2 miles this week and it was tough. I do manage to take some time off each day that run, but would like a better time. My last run of the week was Saturday outside and I ran it in 29.35. Running outside is so much better than on the treadmill. Working on my first race back, a 5K on Thanksgiving morning.

My Chunky Monkey

I can't believe it but the little guy is 9 weeks old today. Where has the time gone? And I know it will only get worse as he gets older. So he had his 2 month check up yesterday and daddy took him. Probably a good thing because he had to get 4 shots & I probably would have cried right along with him. Everything looks good, he is now 15.1 lbs & 23 inches long. That puts him in the 96% for weight & 40% for height. So as I said, he is my chunky monkey. My theory, he is putting on weight for the cold months ahead. All is well & we will go back for his 4 month check up.

Workout-Week 2

I finished my 2nd week of working out and it felt great. I ran a mile 3 times, push up challenge & 3 days of shredding. My time is still improving and I even ran outside Saturday with the jogging stroller. It was tough, but I was only about 1 minute behind my time on Thursday. This was a crazy weekend, so day 3 of the pushups was completed last night.

This week will be the real challenge with gonig back to work, working out and spending time with family. More to come later

Daddy's arms are the best place to be after bath time.

Lucas' Blanket

I managed to get Lucas' blanket done just a few days after he come. Can't wait for him to start using it.
